The ride before the storm?
Checking out the weather network online last night was a horrifying experience.Alerts for the Fredericton area:
Summary
15 to 30 cm snowfall expected by Saturday morning. This is a warning that significant snowfall is expected in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.
Details
A low pressure system tracking northeastward will pass near Cape Cod today then into the Bay of Fundy tonight. It will move over the gulf of saint lawrence Saturday. Precipitation ahead of this system will begin as rain that will change to snow at times heavy as the system nears. 15 to 30 cm is expected with this system. The snow will change back to rain across southeastern sections of the province overnight tonight then back to flurries in its wake later overnight or Saturday morning.
April Fool's joke right? Unfortunately not...let's hope it stays as rain instead of turning to snow. Hard to beleive considering yesterday was such a gorgeous day to be out for a spin on the roads. Sunshine, little to no wind...the perfect opportunity to sneak in a ride outside of town:
On another note, looks like a great weekend ahead for racing fans! The Oceanside California 70.3 has a great start list with some big names in the sport: potts, Reed, Rapp, Henning, Rhodes, Carfrae, Corbin, Tissyre, Major, Ficker...the list goes on. Amazing to see Rappstar back in action after that brutal accident he had last March...the man is a true warrior.
Over in Belgium, one of THE most prominent Classics is taking place on Sunday at The Tour of Flanders. And yes, the big boys are out in full force: Haussler, Cancellara, Boonen, Flecha, Hushovd, Pozzato, Gilbert...can't wait for this one. pavepavepave.com will be hosting a live chat throughout the race and links will be available to watch it as well(better brush up on your Flemish!).
However you choose to spend your weekend, make it a good one and the sun and warm weather will be here again before you know it. Cheers!
