March is here and so begins some great racing for 2011. Cam Brown and Samantha Warriner took the wins today at IM New Zealand in a race plagued by rain and gloomy weather. It was Brown's 10th IM NZ win..dang, that is impressive. Canada's own Scott Curry took 5th with a gritty performance and deadly bike split. Photos courtesy of ironmanlive.com
On the pro road circuit, we recently saw some awesome races start off the season in Belgium, with the Omloop and K B K. Miserable weather, kamikaze attacks off the front and some good sprint finishes.
And today, Philippe Gilbert stepped up and took the victory at the (soon to be classic) Strade Bianche in Siena, Italy. 190km of racing, 70km of which is on gravel roads? Yup, a great route and quickly finding a home on the pro calendar as a "must do" race for the big boys as they get their legs in shape for the grand tours. Any races we've missed lately that you'd like to share or talk about? Leave a comment and let the discussion begin.
