Twight Insights

Anyone out there familiar with Mark Twight? I was first introduced to him in the late 80's through Climbing magazine. Twight was arguably the most bad ass, outspoken (eloquent), charismatic and aggressive climber of his time, pushing brutally tough new routes in Europe, Alaska and all points in between. Greg Child, Alex Lowe, Charlie Fowler? All amazing in their own right, but Twight still trumped em from my persepctive! For a kid like me, just getting into climbing, reading Twight's discourses and honest thoughts on climbing, life and self reflection was like a light switch being turned on. Did he step on a few toes with his articles and piss off some of the climbing "old boys club" with his comments and outspoken attitude? Hell yeah. This was part of the appeal to me. He was not afraid to speak his mind and his articles were always entertaining, educational and insightful.

Over the past few years, he focused on other interests, such as the cross fit "Gym Jones" enterprise, road racing, hard core fitness / conditioning and even trained the crew for the movie "300". Anyway, Twight's writings are definitely worth checking out. Here is a great sample of his work and a link to his site(s)..check em out. If you're looking for stuff to get you motivated, it's pretty hard to beat.
