A fantastic day at the races today at Killarney Lake, Fredericton. RD Shawn Hamilton and his team put on a great event for close to 230 athletes...an awesome turnout to say the least. No rain and perfectly calm waters and zero wind on the bike made for a terrific race. This year there was a race format for just about anyone including tri a tri and tri a du, sprint tri, sprint du and olympic tri. A $50 prime was up for grabs for the top male and female out of the water for the olympic race: congrats to Tara Ross from Banff (yes, Banff AB!) and Richard Isnor for smokin' fast swims who are now $50 richer (unless they already spent the bucks on post race "refreshments" or something similar?)!
Evan P dominated the olympic tri for the V and Tara Ross took top honors for the ladies. For the sprint tri, Reid Burrows finished comfortably in first and Lisa Kek had a dynamite race for 5th place overall. Full results can be found over at atlanticchip.ca.
A large number of first timers took part today which is very encouraging to see and indicates that the growth of the sport continues to expand in NB. Cheers once again to the event organizers for such a smooth and effortlessly run race day.
